Join our Table Brigade! Represent a growing local environmental non-profit, the Santa Cruz Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, by crewing an information table at various area events (surf contests, kayak contests, festivals...whatever).

Event tables are a key part of our outreach effort. They help keep the chapter visible and publicly-accessible, provide opportunities to gather and give information, and aid in recruiting new members.
Volunteers can expect to hand out organization brochures, flyers, and volunteer forms and to explain Surfrider's goals and sell Surfrider merchandise, so you'll be far more credible and effective if you understand the chapter's position on various issues both local and national. You can anticipate volunteering a few hours each time, typically on a weekend day.

So, with these basic "duties", you're wondering what's left unsaid. Your common sense tells you there's more to staffing an event table than just showing up and sitting there smiling. Well, to get real, sure, someone has to set-up and break-down at any event-? and, you're right, it could be you! But, don't panic? We'll arrange help, if needed. For example, someone has to pick up a table, two folding chairs, a box with Surfrider merchandise, a small tool box, change box, and a Surfrider Foundation banner. Usually, we'll try for two people at a time for a two or three-hour period, and we have a helpful check list (how-to-do-it cheat-sheet) that's almost foolproof.
