Buy the latest Brown family surf-film and support Surfrider Santa Cruz

On Sunday, 10/22/06, with overhead bombs firing at Steamer’s Lane in the distance, Surfrider Santa Cruz christened the 1st annual Blue Water Festival with the premiere of Peruvian surf-film, Peel: The Peru Project.  Filmed entirely on location in Peru, home to some of the longest lefts in the world, this surf odyssey fuses electrifying surf footage with breathtaking glimpses into Peruvian culture, including a visit to enchanted Machu Picchu.

From the family who brought us Endless Summer and Step Into Liquid,Peel: The Peru Project features world-class surfers Mark Healey (Islands in the Stream), Jamie Sterling (Billabong XXL Big Wave Award winner), Women’s World Champion Sofia Mulanovich, Jesse Colombo (one of the new breed of “Air” surfers), Randy Bonds (from The Kill Seven and Punk and Disorderly), and seven-time Peruvian surf champion Magoo de la Rosa.  The movie’s soundtrack includes music by the immensely popular Danish band, SURFACT.

"Peel is classic Brown family filmmaking with a modern twist,” says Ross Garrett of Surfing Magazine.  “Wes Brown and T.J. Barrack seem to have channeled the adventurous and insightful spirit of The Endless Summer with added high-performance surfing."

In its effort to heighten environmental awareness, Thousand Oaks-based monterey media has partnered with Surfrider Foundation chapters across the U.S. as well as making strategic marketing alliances with Surfing Magazine and Surfline.com to promote the film, which was released on September 26.  Many thanks to monterey media for donating a generous portion of proceeds to Surfrider Santa Cruz when you purchase the film off our site.
