Pollution Prevention is Patriotic!

We would like to invite you to help us with one of our most important beach cleanup events of the year!

As you can imagine, our beaches take a terrible hit on the 4th of July. Huge crowds of people leave tons of trash on the beach every year on the 4th of July. Any trash that that doesn’t get picked up, ends up in the Monterey Bay after the next high tide. Birds, fish, turtles, and sea mammals choke on the debris.

This year the Surfrider Foundation is partnering with other members of the Clean Beaches Coalition in a major county-wide pollution prevention and beach cleanup campaign. Surfrider will be captaining the program at Seabright State Beach. It is a two-phased strategy. Phase one will be on the afternoon and early evening of the 4th when we will be handing out trash bags to beach goers. Phase two is on the 5th, when we will do a major cleanup starting at 7:30 am. We want to get an early start and pick trash before the tide and wind flush it into the ocean.
